Default Engines

Could anyone tell me all the types of Engines for Civic there is, the difference between them, approx. cost of each, which one that has more torque and HP, and which one will fit in my 96 Civic DX 4DR? I always get confused when I heard b16a, b16b or H22 or whatever. I'm thinking about doing an engine swap so maybe your answers will be a good advice for me. By the way, do you guys think I could add a T-charger on my D16 non-Vtech engine? Or nitrous?

I like the guide that Sport Compact Car magazine put out a while back, its a good starter guide. You can find it in the tech section of their web site.

www.sportcompactcarweb.com

I think that is it...

Peace,

No offense man but you don't need a swap if you don't know what engine is going to fit if you car. But you got your b18s, b16s, and h22/h23. all in how much money you got and what you want to do that makes you choose a motor. As for turbo on you D16......you can, but don't do it unless you got more than a muffler and intake.

like he said man, all in what you want to do/spend. Do you want to travel fast in a striaght line or have some nice overall performance? Do some research before just jumping into anything yet.

here is another good site that will give you a little more info on what engine goes with what car(stock)

http://www.streettuners.com/curve/en...s.html#integra

and another on the various swaps that can be done and what difficulty level they are:

How do you know about streettuners?

It's not as hard as it sounds, you just need to know what you're doing before you jump into anything. I highly recommend www.c-speedracing.com in their how-to section. Also, www.hybridgarage.com for more info.

RESEARCH! You can never know too much about this stuff so dive in and get your hands dirty.

Good luck!

The best thing to drop in a civic is an integra engine (B18 series). Thos things bolt right on with the right motor mounts.

so b18's are more powerful than b16's? And I would like to know exactly which one that would fit in my 96 Civic DX. Don't worry, I'm not gonna do the work, so I don't really need to know every single details about swaping engine. My homeboy will do the job for me.

yes b18's are more powerful than b16's.

all b18's will drop into your civic easy. only the b18c1 and b18c5 have vtec though.
