Parking/interior lights out! help!
95 Civic Si hatch. I installed some NR auto indiglo gauges, but I think I fawked up my electrical system in the process.
At first I hooked up my indiglos to my dimmer rheostat, black to black and red to red ( I spliced them directly so that the dimmer knob wasnt connected to anything). However, I noticed that my environmental control area backlights didnt turn on. In an attempt to fix the problem, I decided to simply hijack power off of the wires and let the plug go back into the dimmer control. When I did this, however, the enviro. area backlights still didnt turn on. Also, when I switched the parking lights on, the glow gauges would flash on for a split second, then the regular gauge backlight bulbs would come on. This made me think there wasn't enough power for both at once, so the bulbs were getting the power. So to insure power would go to the indiglos instead of the backlights I took out some of the backlight bulbs (blue rubber sheath over the bulb, brown bottom). THIS IS WHAT DID ME IN.
Now absolutely nothing happens when I turn my light staulk to the "parking light" position. No dash lights come on, nor do my exterior parking lights. The indicator lights all work however, those for SRS, turn signals, E-brake, cruise control etc. So I put my backlight bulbs back in (total of 6), but I think they have to go back in a certain way, because this didnt fix my problem. My headlights work, and my turn signals only work when the engine is running (is this normal?).
Basically I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with bulbs on the back of the gauge cluster, where they go/ what doesnt need to be in and what can be taken out. Could I have blown a fuse? Where would I look to fix that? What should I do to figure out the exact source of the problem? I'm afraid having the bulbs in upside down is what shorts the system (I could be wrong).
P.S. Does the clock have to be plugged in to complete some circut?

hmmm, sounds like alot of trouble.....
I'm not too sure on the lighting system of 5th gens, but I'll tell you a fool proof way to wire up those indiglos.
when I installed some, I simply ran a two wires through the firewall up to a headlight (in this case, the driver-side). Then I spliced each wire to the parking lights (making sure +'s and -'s were correct), and then the indiglo's would come on when the parking lights/headlights were on.
not the best meathod, but I've known people to do this as well.
as for the rest of your mess, I'd suggest backtracking, but I dunno. Its one of those things that I'd have to be there in order to really 'help'
