it has been done...i dont know how reliable or how much better it works.

the housing cant stand up to the high temperatures of a normal bulb...i dont know how it would do with HID. also the projector housing itself isnt they great to begin with...the projection of light would still be crap.

ive heard that HIDs actually run cooler than standard bulbs. what you said about the box running hot is probably more likely
i just helped my friend install his HIDs and they are freakin PHAT!!!

i want some so bad...
im pretty sure that with stock housings, HIDs will not melt em..but you are using aftermarket projectors...so i dont really know
but im pretty sure that HIDs run the same if not cooler than regular bulbs...

but then again im just dumb newbie

exactly what i meant. the stock housings will work fine.

as with the projectors...if aimed wrong with normal bulbs melts the lining of the housing (happened with mine)

also good luck on rigging a h4 conversion into the h3/h1 projector assembly.

when i got mine a while back...i installed them without aiming them. they were pointed all the way down. the glass from the projector was touching the lining of the housing which melted the edges.
