I have a friend that just bought a 92 Civic DX. I let him get my extra 93 Ex Civic motor and ECU. He doesn't have the cash at this time to get an EX or Si tranny. I know the tranny will bolt up but will it cause any problems. I told him the gear ratios were different and the car would probably top out faster but that is about it for my knowledge. I also told him the tranny wouldn't be able to sustain constant abuse of driving it hard because of the increased hp. What are some other issues with the DX 5speed tranny mated to the EX motor with the VTEC hooked up?

 

it should work fine.

 

Will work fine but be slower. DX has longer gears I believe and thus will do the opposite of what you said (topping out fast).

 

I've got that on my del sol si. D16z6 with a dx tranny. Dx's are cheap, picked up my tranny for 100... ex's are going for about 300 in good shape.
