Default finally got to start work on my car today...

i think i did pretty good for never ulling a motor on my own before, i drained all fluids, dropped the oil pan only to find that at least one of my bearings are shot (like id thought) and basically am ready to pull the motor, all i need to do is get the "bitch pin" out of the linkage, and disconnect the rear, tranny and drivers side mounts.

once the motor is out im gonna pull the head off and take the block down to the garage i go (www.hybridynamics.com) to for jay to rip apart the bottom end and inspect the damage, which judging rom my oil pan isnt as bad as i had thought.

all i think im gonna need is a bearing kit, piston rings, head gasket, maby a crank, head studs (prolly arp's) , maby rods (hes hooking me up with some GSR rods that hes had laying around for close to nothing too if i need em) and if i get the money im gonna trow in some ITR pistons to bump my compression to somewere around 12:1

than i can concentrate on the head over the winter

**** the bodywork i needed, i dont drive a show car anyway

Sounds like fun. For the shift linkage pin, get a bolt, basically the same size as the stablizer's bolt (don't use that one!) and clamp it in a pair of vice grips. You can usually hold the vicegrips and hammer away without hurting your hands and still get a good swing under the car (bolts aren't that long). Don't use the stabilizer's bolt, you'll ruin the threads (trust me).

If you haven't pulled the axle's yet, I got a good trick for the ball joints too. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut, but don't remove it. Take a jack and lift the bottom of the rotor and inch or so (put pressure on that joint). Now take a big hammer and pound the side of LCA where the ball joint goes through. The vibration and pressure will pop them every time and if your careful and only hit the LCA and not the boot, you won't damage them either.
