Default Painted Tail Lights

I have seen alot of you guys with the painted tail lights and they are so good lookin. How many coats of paint are you using? What kind of paint? Can you see the brake lights through them?

I will post some pics of my '95 sol si when the engine and body work are done!

Just curious, what color is your car?

Are you doing the half-black tails like me? I've also seen people do all-red tails the same way...looks good too.

My car is Milano Red, it is in the process of getting repainted so I thought this might be a good time to have some professionals paint the tail lights. I think your black ones look great, but I am going for the all red look. I have tezzy's on now and have hated them since every freakin car in KY has them now. I was one of the first, now I am one of the crowd--I dont want to be common, that is why I drive a JDM b-16A swap del Sol!

Ya, the all red looks good on milano red...

One of the Sols at the meet I went to last sunday had these...they're kinda dark, but that's just because the paint was applied too thick. Thin coats will yield a more factory appearance.

That is exactly what I am looking for. I think that is so sweet. Plus I know I will be one of the first around here to have them that way!

Does anyone know if you can paint the factory side skirts with any success. The only body mod that I am doing is Z3 fenders with my Sol. I really like the factory look. I think that putting aftermarket sides on without the rest of the body kit will look a little :ghey: I have never seen factory ones painted so I did not know if you could do it or not.

The all red tails look nice on any Sol =P There is one that I really like alot - they took the 3rd gen altezzas and painted them all red but those 2 white circles. I'm gonna try and do the same thing, but paint the top circle too. It will have a sorta Audi TT look to it =) I'll try and photochop it tonight if I have time.

Those all red ones look kinda gross. Way too thick and doesn't have the clean factory appearance.

Yes you can paint the factory side skirts. I've seen many sols that had them done. IMO it doesn't make that much of a difference, but then again, I've only seen them in pictures and I know in person it would look better.

Get a Civic lip, paint side skirts and then get some S2000 or WRX side strakes and MAKE them fit somehow . Then do something with the butt. I like the extreme rear bumper without the whole bumper painted. Leave the middle section black. I don't know how that'll line up with the stock sides but even the stock rear bumper is too high.
