I read on a comparison of headers in super street that had the dc race header giving a stock gsr 17+ hp at the wheels, thats pretty impressive if you ask me

"race header" was not hooked to the exhaust right? well the only way to get a GOOD comparison is to attach it to some high flowign exahust... if when welded up it makes 12 hp total over stock vs 17 hp over stock.. id say 5 hp is not worth the obnoxiousnous of open header.. sounds OK on a small block or something.. but sound real bad on a civic..

another factor is.. that was +17 at the PEEK.. how much did it lose down low?? you need to see gains all over the power band.. not just spikey huge peeks at like 7800 rpms..

I would assume it would loose some noticable torque down low, but this is theoretical as a track day trial, i was thinking about trying it for a couple of runs. Last time i was there, there was a kid with a 99 Si I/H and running his exhaust straight off the headder (sounded like an 88 toyota with a rusted out muff) yet ran a consistent 14.8 all day long with no other mods. That is proof enough to at least try it and shoot for my high 13's

i never understood that thought process... say you go to the track.. gutted, open exhaust, 1/4 of a 1/4 of a 1/4 tank of gas, 20 psi tire pressure, 120 shot on race gas.. and run like a mid 13... but then once you leave the track you make the car "normal" again... what the hell was the point.. what good is your 13.6 if out on the street in the real world you are only very low 14's... my point is.. i would want to run at the track (if at all) to get a good idea of what my car can run all the time.. every day..not what it can run with a huge variety of bizare non daily driven type mods..

i agree totally. altering your car just for the track is turning it into something it's not.. keep the street setup

Point taken, i can totally understand that point of view. But there is somthing to be said about how fast your car is capable of, and stripping it down and running your Best time does somthing for you ego. Its bragging rights is what it is. . . someone asks you what your car runs you say 13.8, when in reallity with a full interior on street tires with a full tank of gas it runs a 14.3. I rarely street race anymore since i got in a lot of trouble for it. I would rather do it at the track where usually everyone else is stripped too. Just my opinion
