96 Civic Swap Info
I have a 1996 Civic EX with a stock motor and automatic transmission. I am considering swapping the engine and would also like to convert the tranmission from automatic to manual. I am stronlgy leaning twards a B16a (or b16a2) I am not sure the difference. I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers as to where I could purchase the engine and what engine(s) would be ideal for my particular case (b16a - b16a2...); also any resources or tips in the swap of the transmission would be great appreciated.
I am looking for a round picture on what all is involved in this project.
(i.e.)
Is there much to do with the motor mounts?
Harness and wiring work?
ECU swap?
Thanks a lot..

Usually when you purchase an engine swap everything (ie. new mounts, harness,ecu,tranny,shift linkage, axles, etc....) comes with it.
I'm not sure about what is all needed to convert the auto to a manual os I will leave that to some more experienced people on da board.
B16A-----> JDM (168hp @ 7800 rpm and 116 lb/ft @ 7300)
B16A2---> USDM 99-00 (160hp @ 7600 rpm and 111 lb/ft @ 7000)
Hope this helps a little

Well its been covered quite often so I would tell you your best bet is to do a search.... as most the people on here would tell u to do in not such a nice way
But just to get you started I would say as long as you get a 96-98 b16 motor there isn't much involved. You can use your stcok wiring harness and the ecu that came with the motor. I don't believe your current engine has vtec (correct me if I'm wrong), but I believe its the d16y7 or soemthing which just means you will need to run a wire for vtec. And whatever you think your final cost will be add at least a few hundred.... always some kinks that need to be worked out. THrottle cable, power steering hose, motor mounts, etc.
DO A SEARCH!!!!:fawk:
