Default 16s or 17s on the Civic?

I've searched previous threads to answer my questions, but haven't really found what I'm looking for.

So here's the deal...I'll be getting rims in the near future. At first I was pretty set on 16s, but now I'm kind of considering 17s. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of each? Also, I'd like to drop my car ~2"...is it possible with 17s without rubbing too much? What tire size and offset should I stick with? Any other tips would be GREATLY appreciated...thanks!

well I currently have 17s and they are just too rough for me. I am in the process of selling them and i plan on getting 15s or 16s, hopefully nice ones

the roughness is the only con to 17s that I have run into yet

I also have 17's on my car, and it's a very smooth ride, but the problem I face everyday is that South Carolina roads SUCK, and the SCDOT can't seem to finish one project before starting another (Hmmm, there's an idea).

Anyway, long story short, I've had to replace 2 tires since December due to brusing and blowout from potholes/road construction. Yes, I bought the road hazzard warranty with my tires, it's just the hassle of having to drop my car off and then pick it up, etc.

I personally feel this would not have happened with 16's.

I once had this same question. After talking to some of my friends and also reading some post's on HAN I have come to the conclusion that 16's is the most I would go on my Civic. I say go with the 16's.

I just sold my 17s and they weren't rough at all. :dunno:

I'm going to 16 just because of the weight factor.

i have 16s on my civic with 45series tires....i have no complaints about them....im also going to be lowering 2" and thats why i went with 16s. i didnt want to take the chance of getting 17s and having them rub...

so i vote 16s!

Default Holy rolling rubber Batman!

15 or 16 for sure. SCC did a track test with various sizes of rims a few years back and it turned out that the 15 and 16 inch performed a little better than 17inch.
:naughty:
