B16 wiring harness
hi, i drive a 93 del sol S, and im doing a engine swap and the engine i bought was off my cousins 89 hatchback a B16 SiR II with a OBD0 harness and ecu n tranny, so i have to change the tranny, ecu and the harness becaue my existing harness off my del sol S does not hav a plug for Vtec sensor or map sensor or Vtec solenoid. but i was wondering would a 96 del sol Vtec wiring harness plug up with everything in my car and if anyone knows where i can get one for cheap.
the 96 harness won't work. It's obd2. You can use your old one, and add the 2 wires for vtec, and a ground. Or if you can get a wiring harness for any civic/del sol with vtec from 92-95. The tranny IS wired for vtec.
thanks bakeoff, so let me understand right, the 96 del sol vtec harness wont work but the 95 vtec del sol harness would work and fit on the b16A and plug up with everything on my car right? would you also be able to give me some info on where i need to splice the wires on the old harness to make it vtec (i was told the map sensor and Vtec slenoid n sensor were the missing plugs on my old harness)
if you use the si harness, the map sensor plug on the wiring harness is the one you will use. The S has the map sensor plug coming off the firewall, but won't work once you plug in the Si harness... Weird, but that's how my swap went... So, once you plug in the one from the Si harness ot the map sensor, that's all good, but you'll have the one on the firewall hangin out.
As for vtec, if you use an si harness, it'll have the vtec wiring on that. I know the 93 S's had the vtec wiring going through the firewall, so that was all good. You may have to check your harness (starting at the plugs in the engien bay, and going through the firewall to the ecu).
