Default gas guage not working

I have a 96 civic coupe ex. I recently put on reverse glow guages. I did my self and they look great, but now my gas guage doesn't work. Has anyone else ever had a similar problem or know how to fix it?

Default Yikes!

Looks like it's time to take the gage cluster apart again and find what you 1). failed to reconnect properly or 2). damaged and need to replace.

I owned a Mitsubish Pajero turbo years ago and the gas gage worked but only when I filled it up to full. At about half a tank the gage would drop to zero even though I had a half tank left. I'm sure the leveling meter thing in the tank was F'd. Who cares. It's fun to drive around on empty for a week and wonder when you'll run out of gas. Hope fuel low light works ok.

I'm thinking you might have messed up the needle....

you can try tracing your steps and making sure everything is plugged in correct. Other than that, you'll have to replace your gauge cluster.

i don't remember pulling on the needle, but you know how the needles are all pretty lose. And if you move them they move back to there starting postion automatically. Well the gas guage needle just stays where i put it.

By the way when you say I may have to replace the guage cluster, do you mean all the guages or can i just replace the gas guage? Is it pretty expensive?

I have heard that you can overtighten the gauge faces when putting them on and that will lock up the needle. maybe its that? :dunno: oh yea I have been driving for over a year without a working fuel gauge in my car. Its not a big deal Just count mileage.

well, if its not moving, either your indiglos are in contact with the needle, keeping it from moving (solution: tape or glue gauge face so it doesn't make contact), or you need to go to El Pick-&-Pull and get a new EX gauge cluster.
