Default Supercharged vs. turbocharged

These both have been thrown out a lot around here in the past and other sol forums, so I'm curious, whats the difference, and what are the pros and cons of these? I hear turbo is better, but don't the turbos have horrible acceleration compared to a supercharged engine? Plus lag?

cheers tho,

Gat

Horrible acceleration compared to a SC? ?! Where did you get that from?

You definitely want to do a search on this one... as Snoopy said, it's been covered many times and thoroughly, as well.

i think he's refering to turbo lag. whereas a sc jumps when you punch the gas, the turbo takes a little longer before you hit boost and feel something.

If that's "horrible," then I wonder how I should describe my N/A sohc acceleration... hmmm....

turbochargers take a moment to wind up and kick in the boost but are self effecient and take no power from the engine, superchargers wind up with the engine so there is immediate speed but superchargers are typically larger and heavier and u lose some power turning the pully system off the crankshaft, both are great power gainers

if you launch correctly, you will be in full boost..so, no lag, only lag comes into play when you are driving normally, in first gear is where you feel it most..
