Sound Tips...
Hi! I just bought a 2000 Honda Civic EX Sedan, and am interested in redoing the sound system. I have read around and and all the hardcore audiophiles suggest putting in kick panels because they greatly improve the sound image. Here is my dilemma: In order to put kick panels in (such as the ones made by Q-Logic), you must remove the dead panel. I have a 5-speed, so this is absolutely out of the question. Do any of you have any other ideas for my project? (Placement of speakers, general suggestions...) I am not necessarily looking to have a competition quality system. Thanks for all your help!
go all orion, the greatest high's out there.
get the orion component set up front,
get the orion 6x9's in the back
then get urself an ALPINE deck
and get urself a 4 channel amp, prefebley by orion
u wont regret anything,
it will sound like the band is playing in ur car,

Currently, I am completely stock. I just want better sound all around. I am considering building boxes for subs in the back (a friend recommended putting an 8" sub in each side of the trunk). I'd like to tuck them away and lose as little useable space as possible. (I'd put in a Stealth Box, but they don't make 'em for the Civic sedan!
)
I'm not sure exactly how much to spend. I'm working all this summer, so I don't want to blow it all on the sound, but at the same time want it to sound good. What do you think is reasonable to spend?
Anybody have any luck/recommendations with the tweeters that go near the side mirrors? Are they worth the $42?
Mostly I am just looking for suggestions, the more I read, the better idea I get of how much $$$, and exactly what I want to do! Thanks for your patience!

you have the EX, you should have the door tweeters...
simply upgrading your speakers from the stock paper cones will make a world of difference. you can upgrade the in-door tweeters too, which will help with the soundstage.
as far as subs go, i have a single 12 and it's more than enough. my friend's got 2 10s (1 on each side) and it sounds really good. i guess that's the way to go. you could pull out the stock trunk wall carpeting and try to make some custom enclosure on each side if you're worried about trunk space.
