Synthetic engine oil
I have 130K on my 95 and I've used Regular oil all along. My last Civic hit 270K using regular oil. Save the extra on synthetic.... stop going to the dealership... you have no warranty left anyways... right? You should only be paying around 20 Cdn for an oil change. Unless you live in Metro Toronto.. then I could see it being more....

There is no need for a higher mileage motor to suddenly switch to a synthetic. The only reason that you would even consider switching is if you installed a turbo. Ask yourself this, is there a snail on your exhast manifold?
Totally agree. I do not suggest such a change at a high mileage. I did that on my older motor. I have a feeling that was a player in it's ultimate break down.
I did however switched to synthetic on my B16.

if i just did a synthetic oil change at 150k km for the first time, never had synthetic before. would it cause leaks? and would it be ok if i change back to regular oil for my next oil change?
thx
thx
150k KM does seem kind late to switch over. I would agrre that if it has worked for you so far don't change using regular oil. Something that you could is use this stuff called GUNK(thats the brand name). I am not sure if you have it up in the great white north. I have used it on my civic and my girlfriends dodge truck. What you do is it in before you change your oil. Then you run the car for five minutes and change your oil like normal. I swear to you when i changed both the car and the truck i had two different color oils come out. One was the this nasty dirty kind of black oil first, and then the normal oil after 3000or so miles color. Its a cleanser that helps get rid of all the natural oil byprducts that just build up in your engine and oil pan like varnishes and stuff. YOu should be able to find it any auto parts store.
thats just my 2 cents
