Default Wire Harness & connector question Fuse 15 fix 99 civic ex D16Y7

1999 civic EX 4 door D16Y7 engine, 197000 km.

I have run into the much maligned Fuse 15 short circuit where speedo dies, both O2 sensors show dead and after a new alternator and battery, the charging system is still dead. Fuse 15 blows repeatedly. This all equals a short circuit.

Question:

Car up on jack stands, Driver front tire off, a wire harness that comes out of the frame right below the bottom of the alternator. The bundle runs up past the alternator, turns over top of the alternator and plugs into a 3 pin connector that leads back into the main engine wire harness.

This wire bundle was torn, and was definitely short circuiting. It was obviously the site of a previous repair, as new wires had been soldered on, but they have short circuited again.

I have repaired the affected wires. I went to plug the connector back together, but the female side connector has come off the 3 wire bundle coming from the main engine wire harness.

My question(s):

Is this particular 3 wire connector even part of the Fuse 15 system?

I have looked in the service manual but cannot find this wire anywhere, and cannot identify it.

When I get a new connector with locking pins, how do I know which wire goes where? Service manual does not list what wire colors are what and it is in a tight space right above the oil filter which is a bitch to dick around in.

Is there any way to seat the wires back into the old connector RELIABLY without the locking pins?

The markings on the connector are:
37500
P2F
8V18

The wire colors from engine harness (other side of connecter is replacment wires):
Blue w orange stripe
Brown w black stripe
White w red stripe

Thanks

Mike
