Default Lowering Issues

Hey guys, I have a UK Civic 1.6 VTI 1999 HB. I am wanting to give it a set of 17" or 18" Alloys (18" ideally) and lower it to by around 30mm all round. Or as low as possible without grounding out etc. I would replace the whole stock suspension system, dampers and springs. To get the desired affect will I need to modify the wheel arches?.
Any ideas on a good suspension kit/tyres and everything else I'll need to achieve this?

Cheers

18's are HUGE for a civic.

I wouldn't go with 18's Personally they just dont look right on a civic , waaay to big . You will most likely need to roll your fenders to prevent rubbing.

Ok so if 18's are 2 big then can anyone tell me the setup they use? Like I said before I want the largest wheels possible and the lowest suspension setup without grounding out. Oh yeah and some suspension systems would be good to. Maybe its just the UK but I'm having problems finding suspension kits for the 6th gen Civic 96-00.

18s won't rub if you get really low profile tires...like 215/35...but better be good rims or pot holes + not careful = bye bye rim

you want it slammed??? get some skunk coilovers, but rides like shit...GC is good but not as low as skunks....or just get neuspeed race springs their pretty low. Goldlines are pretty low too and rides pretty good. That is all...
