Default Click when slowing? (CV?)

The other day I had 2 tires repaired, and I was told that my CV boot was torn, but it wasn't 100% crucial to get it fixed then. Now, when I slow down & the car is still in gear, I get a click/scrape sound that is repetitive... click, pause, click, pause, click, pause, etc. but it disappears when I put in the clutch. I would assume this is a symptom of the CV joint dying, would that be a correct assumption, or is there something more I should look for?
