Default gauge holder for 96-98 civics

it seems this would be a great way to mount some gauges
http://www.newsouthperformance.com/hondapanel.htm

however it seems that it needs a factory 96-98 housing down there to work?
can anyone with a 96-98 civic let me know if this would just snap into their lower console area?

i really dont know why people put gauges so low on their dash. whats the point of having them that low? whats the point in having gauges if you cant see them when you need to?

hey, guage placement is gauge placement.

I'm sure a volt meter could go down there, among other things

if it fits the 96-98 pocket above the cupholder it should fit in a 99-00 pocket below the deck.

right???

nope
the lower din area for the 99-00 civic is 1 15/16' (2" is a stretch)
... gauges are 2 1/16" so they don't fit.
