Muphla
Almost time to do my exhaust, just want to know what type of exhaust to get, im startin with the headers (i guess any cheapies would work) doin a highflow cat, plan on all 3" pipe but what muffler to get? i do want the most power I can get, BUT IT MUST be as quiet as possible. I hate the way most Rice burners sound.
I know Sound=Power, but I will compromise some power for less sound. Will flowmaster work? I have put flowmaster on a few of my cars and have been pleased with its performance. though I heard one person put one on an import and was very unpleased with the tone.

You need to go with 2.25 or 2.5" piping. No reason for 3" on a N/A car and you won't be as 'quiet' with that size.
Sound != power. :eh:
I can run open header and be loud as fawk, but be slower than when I have my exhaust on there. You have to realize that with a N/A motor, you need resistance from the exhaust to build up back pressure. This gives you more power at the low end. By opening it all the way up, you will be losing power.. not gaining.
Flowmaster = domestic
Get a Greddy Evo or Apexi WS or RS*R. They're clean, quiet and tasteful exhausts.
Finally, you have a header (no 's' - singular) on your car. There are MANY MANY different headers available. Most often DC Sports is the most 'bang-for-the-buck' and they're well constructed.
If you want some pricing on these parts (except RS*R), PM me with what you want and include your zip so I can get shipping.

i did like the way flowmaster sounded on my 74 Cutlass (dual exhaust)
did i say headers? oopsie, yah, meant header.
that cutlass was easy to work on, this import stuff is so new and confuzing to me
