NewB looking for some info..
I am looking to purchase a 93 Del Sol S and thought I would ask some of the elders here on this board what are some of the things I should look for..
The car I am looking at right now has 78K with a few bangs and bruises. (I was told it was backed into and the drivers head lamp and fender are a bit messed up)
Anyway the fellow is asking 3800 for it (down from 4200 after I pointed out the "little" problems with it)
What do you all think? The engine looks to be in good order and the rest of the body is in top shape.
Any insight would be appreciated.

I just bought a 93 with a couple of little "bad" spots for 3700. It has 126000 miles on it. I love it. Havent had any problems yet, just starting to pimp it out.
It sounds like you got a pretty good deal on your hands from my standpoint.

why a del sol s? If you're looking to swap the motor, you're gonna be disappointed with the power output. If you could find an Si or even the DOHC version then i'd bank on that. If all you want is a base model sol, then you got a good one on your hands. Check on www.edmunds.com to see what the going rate for any of these models go for. Dont forget to test drive!
This one does have power windows and power steering.
I am going to look at it again today.
We are not planning to do too much with it as far a performance but still like the car.
Thanks to all that have responded to this thread.
BTW.. at 77K what kind of maintainence things should I be thinking about for the near furture. (already thinking about doing the timing belt)

Thanks to all that helped..
I am going to pass on this one because the guy that was selling it was a lieing piece of $#1+
After I did more research on the car I found out that it was a salvage title and there were more problems than he had disclosed.
He said that it had been backed into in a parking lot. Luck would have it that a police friend of mine actually knew the girl that drove it before.. Get this... The front end was for all practical purposes taken off by a full sized Dodge truck.
Here is the VIN just in case any of you happen to run across it..

I am sure that I will find my Del Sol in good time...

the s is wired for vtec? i don't think it is seeing as how its non-vtec but i maybe wrong. the s is a great swap candidate though, because its cheap on insurance and can be bought for cheaper than a Si, or VTEC
