sorry, i have no answer, but i'm interested in one. my paint is all jacked up, so i want to get my car repainted, but i want to keep the same color, so i figured that'd be less money, less work, and less time to do. i'm hoping it would only be a couple of hundred. i'll probably start calling around.

They're called estimates, get one. Usually free and vary depending on the quality of work done.

It really depends where you go
can be as cheap as $1000 (really poor finishing) to $10000 (very good painting, almost like perfect!! Complete brand new look)

Maaco - $400

Professional (only exterior, no engine bay or door jams) - $1000ish

one more coat of color won't do a ton of good to be honest. You'll need probably at least 2... otherwise there will be some streak marks. Trust me. I just got my car done, and I saw what it looked like with one coat. So, you're looking at 2 coats and 2 coats of clear. Price shop. Make sure it's good paint. Avoid Maaco, Earl Scheib etc. They're sh!t paint and it flakes. Look for shops that spray using Dupont or something like that. It's a good paint for a good price. Should be around 2,000. I'd say.... buy a really good wax... like a 3M or Mothers and go to town with a few coats. Or, spend 100.00 on a buffer and creme and buff out your current clearcoat. You'd be amazed at what just that can do. Hope I was of some help.

that and a couple of bottles of touch up paint are looking like my current solution for the time being as money of that size is going toward my engine swap

theres a place in washington that does REAL GOOD paint jobs for 250 if you pay for the paint. gets the door jams and all but not the engine bay.... REAL REAL REAL quality work. but its not a real business. its just a guy i know. makes it look near stock quality paint but it isnt. just LOOKS like it aha
