Performance issue
Sup fellas, my friend and i have the exact same civic. Silver 99Ex coupe 5 speed. (I got mine first, copycat fwuit) But N-E way his car is hella slow compare to mine, we have short ram intakes in our cars. But his engine looks like sheeet. He bought his car upstate New York (I got mine on Long Island)where he goes to school , they have rough winters, and his engine looks bad with only 35k miles on it Like some rust, everything is covered in white sheet prob salt. My friend is coming home from school next week and I just want to know eveything we should do get his power up. I was thinkin Changing cap, rotor, wires, plugs, fuel filter, use fuel injector cleaner but i jus want some more ideas. Also my intake has a 2.5" pipe and his is Carbon Fiber with 3" pipe can that be the problem too??
And how to clean the engine, like exactly what parts to cover up?
Last question a year ago i use to see this face gauge that had Azn characters on it. But i cant find them anywhere anymore. I must have looked for hours. Can n-e one help me.

Did he do the 30k tune up yet? If not that could be limiting him somewhat. Cap, rotor, plugs, fuel filter (I think?), and get somebody to do the valve adjustment - for a start
Gotta love oxidation on the Upstate NY engines. Mine looked like garbage and still doesnt look great but some sanding/painting of parts will help cover the problem areas.
Oh ya I still have a ton of oxidation on the bottom end of the engine

maybe you're just a better driver than he is? basic tune up will always help SOME but if you're significantly faster than he is, maybe you should try driving his car and let him drive yours against you

we just have to worry about the sun fading the paint.
