Please help! First setting of windshield wipers is not working.
Setting number one for the windshield wipers is not operating but both the second and third speed settings are functioning properly. I have not checked for any electrical problems as of yet, but the first setting of the windshield wipers is not operating, so i assume it cannot be the motor malfunctioning. I turn it on and nothing, then click to setting two and three and both properly work.
Has anyone else had a similar problem, if so how was it corrected?
Are there separate fuses for each of the three wiper speed settings?
How can I correct this or check for possible electrical problems instead of replacing the entire assembly?
I appreciate any help, thanks.

i could _almost_ guarantee the pot that controls the settings is wearing out or corroded. My guess is you would have to tear down the steering column and fix the stem.
The motor _could_ be damaged as well. If the brushes are shot it will not be able to kick in at lower power. I might turn the wipers on and take a volt meter to the hood...you know, measure off the wiper motor and see if its being powered when on that first setting. that will tell you if the motor is busted, or if the switch/pot is busted.

That's a good plan, looks like I need to clear a time slot to do this and figure out what the problem is. Hopefully it is just some loose wiring or a blown fuse. Thanks
Anyone else experiencing this in a 96-00 Honda Civic coupe?

no, not at all, and i use the piss outta my wipers. we get a lot of rain here.
You get a lot of rain through Racine? I am from GB, I do not even have to tell you what those initials are for because I am sure all Wisconsin people know what GB stands for
(not that I stand for P---kers, either though) Anyway, I am down in Florida now, so I use my wipers quite a bit, but I haven't the slightest clue why it would just die like that. If it is the switch itself I am going to be kicking myself in the a-- for selling a spare one I had out of a GSR
If you still need help on the sunroof opinion let me know, maybe I could find some other reasons not to get it.
