99-00 coupes are nice. go for either a ex or si if you want to keep the engine and just build that up. go for something cheaper if you want to do a swap or make it an all out race car. (if i were to get a new car, i'd get a 99-00 si most likely)

I appoligize for not mentioning this before, but I am actually looking for a small project vehicle. I also off road and have a Jeep that takes up a lot of my time and money. I was wanting to see what a good year for around $3000-$4000 range would be. Any other advice would be greatly appreciative..

how much of a project are you looking for? full race type stuff? full race, i would say get a 92-95 dx coupe. you can find them for cheap. but that would have the intention of doing a swap. if you want no swap, then go ex (since it had the most hp to start with of that generation). hatchies are usually cheaper (i believe).

I am not looking for full race, would want to keep same engine, just throw in lots of mods for the learning experience, and would mess with supension and body kits. Mostly for showing off on the streets.

92-95 Ex Coupe I would say. You can play with the suspension on that and build a nice lil show car. lots of kits available.

Like I said I am still new to the Honda Civic world, were there different engines in the 92-95 coupes? If so which ones would you suggest keeping an eye out for, and are there any you would say to stay away from?

yes. http://www.jdmfan.com/index.php?info...specs_5g_civic has a list of them all. basically, the ex and si have the same engine. 125hp with vtec, everything doesn't have vtec and just goes lower in hp. ex is a good model to start with, though it's heavier because of all the options. but if you're not going for 1/4 mi times, it's a great car to drive (i have one and i like it, though it's a sedan).

plus you can get it with 4 wheel disc brakes which are way better than drums.

not really years (though that has to do with it) but the changes in styles. like mine is the 5th generation of the civic. so the 5 design change. usually called a 5th gen, or an eg. eg, ek, ej, ep... all have to do with chassis codes. they represent different trim levels (cx/dx/ex/si and so on). a list of those can be found at http://www.jdmfan.com/index.php?info...=chassis_codes
