Default EG What?

So, I always assumed that I have an EG9 cause that the wing I bought and gauge cluster... but, I looked at my car VIN the other day and it says EG8...

What's the diff between an EG8 and EG9?

USDM sedan DX/LX = EG8
USDM sedan EX = EH9
JDM sedan SiR = EG9

In fact...
USDM hatch CX/DX/VX = EH2 and
USDM hatch Si = EH3 too...

This, plus the fact that in the US:
EJx = coupes from 93-00 and
DBx = 4dr integra from 90-01 and GSR from 92-93
(x = some number)

...is the reason why I try to avoid using those kinds of chassis designations. Just saying 5th gen civic sedan seems so easy.
