Default Maintence Light

The maintence required light in my car is confusing me. I bought my car used, therefore it didn't come with a manual. When I first got my car the backdrop color of the light was green, well when i started to do modifications to the engine, it changed to orange. It was time to change my oil. So when i did that it went back to green. When I put on my ingen intake, it turned back to orange. Well, about two weeks later it changed to red and has been that way ever since. Does anybody know what color the background of this light is supposed to be? It's not really lit up, It's very dim and that's what's confusing me.

when its green, the car is Ok....when its yellow, you are getting close to a mile mark, and when it is red, you are at/passed the mile mark, and need maintenance. Generally, it will change red every 7500 miles. Its just to remind you to do whatever maintenance is sceduled for that mark. If you tell me what mile mark you're at/approaching, I can tell you what needs to be done (as per my Helms manual).

Think of it as a timer. Doesn't mean you NEED any maintenance right now. Just stick your key in the slot next to it, and push in.
That'll reset it to green. 7500 miles later it'll be red again just to remind you to change the oil.

I don't really have much experience in that, but don't you just stick the key in the cluster so it turns off?
