Default Ebay Power Adder does work!

well, just thought i share this with you all. my friend order this power adder thing from ebay for like $5. it came with instructions and 2 resistors. the purpose of this was to attach the resistor to the IAT or TA for other cars. it is suppose to trick the ECU into thinking more air is coming in, thus increases the fuel & air ratio. well, he put it on his crx si, and it made a huge difference in terms of throttle response and feel of acceleration. then he put it in my civic ex... and drove it around and told me it's was faster than before. go figure. anyway, just thought i post it up. btw, ur suppose to run 92oct & only works on NA cars.

yeah mpg will definitely suffer but for extra whp... it's worth it. besides it's really easy to remove and and put back on when needed later.

I'll safely assume anything simply called "power adder" isn't good for my car. I'd pass on it.

I'm no expert but I'm a bit skeptical. Wouldn't you simply run a slightly richer mixture? And if so, wouldn't you actually lose power?

The "resistor mod" really does work. The way it works is that it is installed on the IAT sensor and modifies the signal so that the ECU will think it is colder air coming into the engine. This has two effects... it will enrich the fuel mixture since colder air is denser and therefore contains more oxygen and the second effect is it will advance the spark timing accordingly. You will notice the most difference on a car that has I/H/E installed but no fuel mods since the engine needs more fuel to begin with. The reason you have to run the 92 octane gas or more is that the timing is advanced meaning more chance of detonation and engine damage. Note that if 92 octane gas is used on a fairly low compression engine this mod is completely safe but I wouldn't use this mod on a high compression engine for example a Type R.
I have one question since I haven't seen a dyno with baseline for this mod... if the timing is advanced you should get better throttle response and torque at the low end but is the top end affected?
Thanks

Running a richer mix of fuel will kill hp. Although you shouldn't run into problems with fuel starvation unless you have an empty tank. And I bet his bumper is much blacker. And say goodbye to your catalytic converter.

But seriously you friend fell for the ELECTRIC SUPERCHARGER gimmick.

A perfect A/F ratio or a little lean makes more hp. Not more fuel than air.
