hey i was wondering how fast have u gotten it to go.
I've taken it up to 75mph, but that's still in 3rd gear! I know it would go faster, but I didn't want to get a ticket. I start in 2nd gear and don't shift to 3rd gear until about 50mph. Electric motor likes to run 4000-5500 rpm
Also why can u only drive 25 miles? how long does it
take to charge? im just curious. great project car
too. I think its a great idea
Optima YT batteries can put out lots of current for quick starts, but don't have as much capacity as flooded lead-acid batteries. I could double the range by doubling the batteries, but I didn't want to beef-up the suspension. I only live 4 miles from work, so this range is ideal for me.
Charging time depends on how much I"ve taken out of the batteries. If I've driven it so they are empty (25 miles) then it will take about 6 hours to charge. If I've just driven to work & back, maybe 2-3 hours. I just plug it in when it's in the garage and turn off chargers when I go to bed.
