Default Hood release cable

Hey all,

I had the misfortune of breaking the handle off of my hood release cable today. A new one from Honda is $20, but they want $100 to change it!!! I think I'll do it myself. Has anyone done this before? How bad of a job is it? Any tips or tricks??

Thanks!

That's exactly what my lazy ass would do. I don't think replacing the cable would be that bad- just fish out the old one and slide in the new one.

Take off your wheel, fender liner and front bumper. It's easy money from there.

How badly is it broken? I glued mine back on with crazy glue and it looks brand new and functional. 89 cents solution!

I may try that first, but on the other hand a new cable is only $20. The old one is getting pretty stiff and rusted. It's a toss up.
I'd have to wait for it to warm up first too. It's like 20 degrees outside right now. Either way, I just put my Leatherman in the car for when I need to open the hood.

Your not the only one. My friend and I's are broken too.

I'm leaving mine broke. So if a thief trys to steal my car , it'll be difficult for him to open the hood and get to the siren.
