I had my exhaust resonator pipe (the long one) off recently, and I noticed that the heat shield at the bend right before the muffler is coming off, and all rusty. I had noticed something banging occasionally when I'm on the highway, so I'm thinking it's that heat shield.
So can I take that shield off? And if I do will it hurt anything? Or is it a necessary part that I should find a way to bolt on?
