personally, H22A
200HP & 165TRQ

I have a b18b1 now in my civic and it's ok. I had to get a n2o kit to give me some more power.

H22 is overrated. You can't supercharge it in the civic body, it doesn't sit correctly in the engine bay, it sits at an angle, well at least the ones I have seen, also they break axles quite easily in the civic bodies for some reason. B18C1 is the best bet. I wouldn't pay anymore than $3500 for a COMPLETE swap. Also for B18B's I wouldn't pay anymore than $1500 tops.

well two of my roomates have b18b's in there hatches currently and they stay pretty competitive for our little town in nebraska i persoanally wouldnt mind one myself.

me personally i am going with the b16a2 in my hatch and so is my buddy but the motor wont be here till next week so i really cant comment if i made the right choice yet

but either way i just wanted something different cause there are like 4 or 5 (i think) b18b civics in town and no b16's so that is the main reason i made my choice its all about what you want and to me what others dont have

Compression, won't respond as efficiently as lets say the b18b or b20, which both have lower compression, and the b20 has approximtely .2 more displacement which will provide a little more low-end torque.

The GSR has high compression hence high RPM's for top-end power as stated above.

Default B16a1

My vote is B16a1 it's a little more work to get installed in a 5th gen, but it's cheaper than all of the other motors. the reason it's cheaper is cuz it has a cable tranny, this really isn't a factor though, because hasport sells an adapter and it works perfect (isn't even hard to install) you'll be competitive with gsr's (hatches with gsr swaps will have a slight edge on you...but the win will more often go to the better driver than the larger displacement engine) also the tranny on the b16a1 is SICK low gearing. i don't know the numbers, but i do know that at 75 mph in 5th gear your running at like 4200 rpm.... this may sound kinda crazy, but if you think about it, it makes an ideal tranny if you're running NA and you want to get off the line quickly.

just my .02 but i will also caution you that it's a little hard to find parts for them. they are MORE OR LESS a del sol dohc vtec engine, but some things are different (like the throw out bearing for the clutch) but if you do a little reasearch you can find out what parts to order for it.
