Default 5th gen Civic DX's... Were the older ones faster?

I read today in a manual in my automotive class that the 1993-1994 D15b7 came with a 9.3:1 CR and the 1995 d15b7 came with a 9.2:1.

I own a 95 and my friend used to have a 93 DX Coupe..he had a system, mine was much lighter than his also, We both had an iceman Intake and the same exhaust, but his would pull harder on mine when we downshifted. This was a while ago.. I know the horsepower is rated the same as well as the torque, but would the CR make a difference at all? Or do too many factors come into play (mileage / condition etc)

just wondering. Also his was made in canada..
