Default trunk light

i searched first, found nothing.

i have a 94 DX sedan. it does not have a light in the trunk, just the space for it. I got a light out of an LX (also 5th gen).

does anyone if the wiring is already there?

also, how does the light activate. i could not find an switch on the trunk of the LX. is there a sensor built into the latch?

my best advice would be to see if there is a connector there for the light to plug into. If not then you don't have the wiring. I bleieve it is wired into the relay for the trunk sensor so that when it senses its open the light comes on.

There are 2 ways to do it.

The easiest way, is to splice both the positive and negative wires to the parking light of the taillights. However, it will only be on when your parking lights are on, and will still be on when you close the trunk.

the 2nd and proper way, is to splice the positive wire to a constant power source. If you have an amp in the trunk, that is where I did it, if you have no power in the trunk, you will need to run the wire to the front.

For the negative wire, there is a black wire near the trunk latch that you can splice into. There's not a lot of room there, so be careful where you splice into.

once you do that, the light will turn on anytime the trunk is open, and will turn off when the trunk is closed.

have fun

Need more information. Is this a 4th Generation (93-96 US, 92-95 elsewhere) or 5th Generation (97-01 US, 96-00 elsewhere), coupe, sedan or hatchback?

I think you got your years mixed up. 96-00 is 6th gen, 92-95 is 5th gen, and 88-91 is 4th gen, and so on and so forth.
Also, he already said that his Civic was a 94, which would be 5th gen. unch:
