Computer in trunk?
I own a 96 civic ex coupe that has been swapped from auto to 5 speed. While recarpeting my trunk I found what appears to be a factory installed computer that looks like the OBD1 thats behind the right side kick panel.Does anyone know what this is and what it controls?

Idid the tranny swap myself and did not know it was there.I installed the stick ECM from the donar car and everything seems to work fine.Im just curious if i need the one in the trunk. It looks like a cool place to hide my audio amp.

If nothing is plugged into then no you don't need it. I have owned two civics and worked on more than i can count and have had subs put in and never come across a computer in the trunk.

Its behind a molded bulge on the right side trim panel. It has plugs in it now but im not sure where they go Ill try n trace them out.Your probably rite, they most likely went to the shifter plugs for the auto trans no longer being used.Or could they control the ABS?
