Default check engine light.

I'm yet to replace my engine, so i still have my 00 dx engine. My engine light went on this morning. I'm not leaking any fluid and all my belts seem to be in tact. I tightened my fuel cap after I pulled over to check all this. I called the dealer and he said that i would have to start and drive my car 8 miles 3 times to reset the functions if it were the fuel cap not being tight enough. What else could it be and can you reset it any other way?

go to a local autozone, they'll check the codes and reset it for free.

at least have them check it to see what's wrong so u can correct the problem. then i think u can reset the ecu yourself by either disconnecting the negative battery lead, pulling the backup fuse in the underhoood fuse box, or disconnecting the ecu at the plugs

yeah...tighten the gas cap and reset the ECU as they said (just take off the negative terminal, wait a minute or so, and hook it back up)....that should hopefully solve your problem

Check the codes yourself! All you need is a paper clip!
