Default D4 light not working

So I took out that little housing that has the P-R-N-D4...etc lights to find out what the problem is. the little LED light is held on by a wire! Now I don't want to take it out... If I do, I'm gonna screw something up big time!

Hopefully I can sell the car as is, but I'd like to be able to fix it before doing so.

****, I've got two of those laying around from slapping auto clusters into manuals. If you need one, I've got 2 5th gen ones. Just two screws and it replaces the the whole unit...

oh the guages.. ya i'd be noticeable in that case.. i wouldn't worry about it if it was down on the shifter.. what are the chances someone notices it there at night? do they even light up with the headlights? :dunno:
