radio fuse keeps blowing

I tried Bakeoff's suggestion - no luck. New fuse in without radio, gauges (and of course clock) are still out. I put in the old stock radio - the "Code" message comes right up, fuse doesn't blow - but there is no clock, either!
So: the new deck is definitely wired funny, I guess the constant power wire (red?). BUT... what did I do to the gauge lights and clock? Is there a separate fuse handling those two? Or did I actually blow the bulbs with some kind of short?
Over in Audio/Electrical, one post indicated I might have blown the "clock fuse" but then he goes on to say I need a new "clock bulb." I have to pull the gauge cluster to replace that, don't I? sigh...
