If you're only looking to get the car moving, throw another Z6 short block under there.
If smog will let you get away with it, a B18B1 or B20Z1 would be a nice upgrade.
Both can be done for reasonable money, if you're willing to spin the wrenches.

chit, I found a guy who'll swap his z6 with 128K on it for $900. He wants $700 for the motor itself, sounds a bit much but with labor, its pretty inviting. The only problem is, hes about 10 miles away. I dont know if I can drive it withought coolant in the summer.

have any friends with AAA? free tow within 15 miles.

I have towed countless friends cars on my AAA account. They don't ask if it is yours or anything just make and model.

Yeah, I wish. I literally dont know one person here who would let me borrow their driveway. The best I can do is a Toys-R-Us parking lot.
