Default rebuilding transmission!! HELP!!

I have a gsr tranny with a blown 3 gear synchro. i called a few tranny places and they sed it would cost about 1200-1500 to rebuild..

1.) do you guys know of any good Northern California tranny shops for a lower price.

2.) how much does the synchro kit cost since you can't buy single ones?

3.) is it worth it to rebuild it or should i buy a new one?

4.) have you guys rebuild your own tranny? if so, what's the labor and difficulty involved for someone with some mechanical skills?

5.) thanks and have a nice day!!!

The problem with GSR trannies (I know, I have the same thing going on right now) is that Honda won't sell just the synchro and you can't get JUST the synchros. You have to buy the whole shaft at $500/each (there's 2 of them in there = $1K). I know a guy that sells JDM ITR trannies for $1250 shipped.... I suggest you go that way if you have the $$$.

If you do find a place that sells the synchros, lemme know. I need a set too.
