People stoped buying them because they realized they could just go to their local park, steal a bench, bolt it to their trunk lid, and achieve the same look....for free

Are you f-in serious? That would be soooooooooo  to see! True though, they are being played out, and now its "trendy" to think they are ricey.

I hate the constant loop we go through.

Not exactly a park bench, but close to it. Looked like someone was board in shop class in HS and carved out a chunk of wood and bolted it onto the back of his Camaro. He even painted it to match his car, with a roller of course. I wish I would have had my camera. I should put a disposable in my glovebox.

Hehe..made a wing out of sheet metal, cut it out, drilled it and bolted it all together..it was just for fun, I got bored at work. The deck was about 2.5 wide and about 6 feet long. It say about 4 feet off the roof of my buddy's s10 blaze who was nice enough to let me put it on. It was cool for about 3 hours then the metal began to fold up after being on the interstate and eventually the bolts tore though it and the wing went rolling down the interstate.

Everything "played-out" is dirt cheap now.... M3-style mirrors, Altezza's, those spoilers...

I admit, I would get an aluminum spoiler...
if my car went over 200mph and thus NEEDING it...
