pinging vs belt slipping
hey i thought my belt was slipping cause my car made a chirping / squeal-chatter sound. when i mash it at certain rpms. but then someone said it was pinging when i was going up hill (it "pinged" once) i'm pretty sure its just the belt still though cause it happens more sometimes with the weather, but i'm just wondering. what octane will stop pinging for sure? i've got one of them 1.5 liter sohc engines in the canadian lx civics
Stupid question here? Does your car have the CVT auto transmission in it? I believe that one is belt driven(like on a snowmobile or ATV) Someone correct me if I'm wrong. That maybe your chirping belt...
Otherwise, anything over 90 should stop it from pinging for sure, unless you have other sensor problems.

and as for the belts, i think theres one under the or partly under the cover or something and another one which is the water pump i thinks and one more which is the altenator. i don't have ac.
please respond further about this.
