Default Changing head gasket

I am changing the head gasket on a d16z6 that has previously been overheated... Since the car has been overheated does the head/block need to be resurfaced?

Since you have it apart it's best to and most recommend it. All that work and put it back together and the head might be warped, and you have to tear it down again.

That engine comes with a 3-layer metal gasket too, so if it's now leaking (esp. when you consider it's also an aluminum block) as a result of overheating, I'd be surprised if something didn't need to be resurfaced.
