BTW, before everyone gets into a pissing match about whos better, they're ALL made by DEI. Yep, Viper, Clifford, Avital, you can unplug a viper alarm and plug the clifford right in.
DEI owns Clifford.
I have a Clifford. I forget which model. It's the hot **** @ bestbuy. Got it at cost. My and friend and I installed. it.
If you wanna learn about wiring. Do an alarm install. you tear apart everything.
I also wired it up so my 5 spd has remote start. Man that **** is so money during winter.

yea.... i kno dei owns clifford, but their brain design is conceptually different (except for the "matrix" series, which are viper brains, with clifford style remotes.)
viper recommends that the starter cut relay is normally closed, until the alarm is triggered. the relays leaves the circut closed (uncut) when the brain is pulled.
clifford g4 alarms have the cutoff (starter and ignition) built into the brain. if the brain is removed, you need to rewire (hotwire) the ignition and starter.
bumnah: did u use the clifford G4 remote start? its the only one that ppl should use on their manual cars :P

nope. i think my alarm is the rs3 or some ****.
the remote start is like normal. i never leave it in gear so it's cool.
plus if i ever take my car to the mechanics i remember not to remote start it.
i dunno. i'm paranoid enough to remember everytime.

alarm cost me 115, install = free form me
manincamo - realistic range is probably a good 1/2 mile although it says its capabable of going up to 1.5 - 2miles, but you might not see that unless your in a desert. it also helps when you hold the remote to your body while pushing butons, your body will act as an 'antenna booster' so to say.
and im sure you guys already nailed this i didnt feel like reading all the posts but yes viper and clifford are both owned by DEI. DEI spends wayyy much more time/concern into the design and build of the clifford models over viper and the circuitry in those will run laps around anything else.
simply put i tell my customers - "viper is for people who want convience in an alarm, clifford is if convience is not a concern and you want hands down the best security and technology out there"

the cool thing about the clifford smart start, is that you hit a button b4 u shut off your car. when you remove the you r key from the ignition, you car stays on. the car shuts off after you get out and arm the alarm. that way, the car "knows" that you're not in gear. also, it keeps the stock functionality of the clutch safety switch
