starting problem!!
hi, i have a 98 civic ex d16y8, with 143k, had a major service with all the tune ups at around 138k. The car is hard to start when its hot? any suggestion?
Also if its -25degrees outside, if i don't plugin the block heater, would it be very hard to start, and even stall if i got it started?
Thx!!

is it a really luggy sounding start? like a slow crank or a no crank at all? basically turning over is the sound of the car starting up.. the "cha cha" dill... if it does that but slowly then i'd check out a new battery and maybe an alternator too.. if there isnt any turn-over at ll... then that could be alot of things.. let us know
hum, it will start, but the engine barely cracked, it seems like the engine started a little too fast, usually it will crack for like 1 second or 2, but when i am at heated underground parkard, it barely crack for a second, maybe 1/2 a second. then rpm will slowly raise.
thx

Try this... When you go to start the engine, turn the key to through the acc position to the run position(when all the dummy lights come on) but don't start it. Now, wait for the Check Engine light to go out. After it goes out, try and start it. See what happens.
BTW, when was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

i dun think the fuel filter was ever changed, when i did my majot service, honda said it was not neccessary to replace at this time. Also this starting problem only happens when i am at a heated underground parkard.
