I believe it's an I-vtec. At least my rents 03 is. As far as the oil, funny you should ask. My dad is having a heart attack with the whole 5000 mile thing. He's been into the dealer four times now to see if they've changed their mind. It's not going to hurt anything on the first 5k miles. It will help break in the engine a lot better. I keep trying to tell this to my dad, but the last time he was at the dealer, I think he checked on the price of a new set of rings for it. I think it's funny. You're fine dude. Just make sure after the 5k you have a regular schedule of maintanance.

According to Honda's website, it isn't i-VTEC, just regular, ol' VTEC.

yea its regular vtec, and oil change every 5000. i was doin it on 3000 and then the lady at the service department told me to only get it 5000 miles. she said that honda says to change it every 10000, but the dealership thought that was crazy.

My manual says first oil change should be done at 10,000.
