Default choice of gas?

hi, i have 98 civic ex d16y8, i am wondering which type of gas is good, 87, 89 or 91 octane?

i am supposed to use 98, but the highest around here is 94 so i use that

you'll be fine with 87.

86 or higher it'll say in your manual, i use mid-grade on mine which ranges 86-88 around here

Unless you raised your compression or have FI regular unleaded is fine and dandy.

this came up on another forum - use 87 if you just have basic bolt-ons or less. Just for kicks, I used 89 on my last tank - absolutely no improvement whatsoever. In fact, my mileage may have gone down... but that may be because I stay at real high revs in the morning to help warm the engine up in this frickin' sub-zero Artic weather we're having.
