Default 92-95 Civic Exhaust Question...?

I had a local muffler shop install my new 2.25 piping recently, and since then i put in a home made straight pipe for the CAT. Now that i did that, my muffler sits crooked out the back and rubs against my rear lip and is starting to melt it. IS there a way i can center it or adjust the hangers so that the muffler is straight?

2nd Question, sorry: With no Cat or resonator, my exhaust is real loud, so im thinking of "hollowing out" my cat with a big drill bit and then putting that back on... is there a certain way to do this and is it a good idea?...PROS/CONS. Thanks

Go back to the exhaust shop and make them fix it. With no catalytic convertor your car is to be loud. Gutting the cat is going to be worse. It's going to rattle and sound horrible. Just get a high-flo catalytic convertor.

Or, you could have the muffler shop put a resonator in line to muffle the sound some more.

Check to make sure that all your hangers are on right.

Another thing is when i go through lower gears and i get on it, i get this high pitched whiney buzzing sound that reminds me of when i made new Welds on my old exhaust with just the muffler. I was thinking this was because of the home made straight pipe with newer welds that i did myself, which are ok, but not the best. So if i hollow the cat maybe i wont get the buzzing sound because there are no welds? anyone else have this sound?

Do not gut your cat!! I would like my kid to grow up without a gas mask. Also it creates backpressure by stagnating the air flow.Actually I don't quite understand, you said you replaced your cat with straight pipe, right? So what are you thinking about ugtting.Basically, take it back to the muffler shop and make them redo it,and watch them to make sure they do it right.Mention negligence and replacing melted bumper and you will surely get it done right.

The cat doesn't do much to the sound. I had a straight through racing cat (basically a pipe) and it wasn't that loud. Then I replaced the resonator with a straight pipe and OMFG it sounded like a whaling banshi! The exhaust Resonator is the most sound absorbing part of the entire exhaust next to the muffler.

I wouldn't gut the cat though. Your gonna fail at emissions. Even if you pass the visual test you'll be running to rich. I failed 3 times with my old racing cat. I swapped it with my stock one and passed immediatly.

You can just yank the muffler hangers a tad to hang lower. That's what I did. Yank carefully
