Default 97 Civic Lover Looking For New Car

I loooooooove my 97 Civic LX 4 door. Love it love it love it. But it is beginning to show it's age.

I thought, when the time came, it would just be a matter of buying a new Civic, but... to my tremendous dismay... the new Civic is nothing like the old one. I had a loaner last year ('08 model) and it was just a miserable experience. I felt like I was in a cockpit of a fighter jet. The old civic was the perfect car and then they went and messed with it.

So... where should I turn? Basically, I want what I had, but new. The only thing I would think about changing would be the addition of an MP3 player. That's it. Does such a thing exist? Is there another model I should look at? Or how about a different brand? If I do find something that looks, feels and drives like the old Civic, is it going to give me 12+ years of loyal service?

Buy a new head unit, do a detail job (or paint depending on how "aged" your car is), and keep driving it. If you really love the car that much, you'll regret getting rid of it.

Pretty much no late-model cars have the same feel as an older honda. As safety standards increased, so did weight. Even an entry-level econobox these days is still going to have several hundred pounds on a EG or EK civic.
