I had a 98 and the tires were 205-40-17. It was only dropped about 1.25-1.5" and I didn't have any issues with rubbing. I currently have a 2000 with 17's again, same size tire and it's dropped 2-2.25" and it rubs some.

I honestly can't wait to get something smaller.

I have 205/40/17 on my ek hatch it rides ok I did however lower it recently around 2 or 2.5 inches and I do rub a little when I hit bumps or with people in the car which is almost never I drive it alot and dont mind the ride and the rubbing is very minor not enough to overly concern me
