ive got this weird noise in my fron tend mostly while i tunr to the left and now its starting to do it all the time. any ideas of what it might be? i had some tranny work done and the guy said i needed some new rubber dust boots replaced because they were shot. i think i waited too long to get them fixed and they wore out and it got bad.

If he was referring to your C/V boots, then the axle grease probably leaked out and now your C/V joint(s) may be dead. You can either replace the joint(s), or replace the entire axle(s).

If it's a reg clicking sound(when you turn), then you need a new axle.
A new boot and some grease may hide the problem but it will come back.

I've had that problem since I bought my car. I didn't make any left turns, so I never noticed it until day #2. sucks If you want good ones, I'd suggest a wrecking yard and get em off a honda, or buy em from the dealer... but they'll be like 300 bucks per side, not including labor. But they will last. Remanufactured is an option, but I hear they start to mess up again after about 3 months. The place I bought my exhaust today was parting out a 95 civic, so I'm gonna see how much they'd want for the left side, if it's still even in working order.

if it's a clicking, then you have a busted CV joint.

Just replaced my cj joint about 3 months ago. On one side all they did is replace the cj joint. The other side was so hyper extended, they hade to replace the whole axle shaft. Each side was $215 and that includes labor. New cj joint on one side, Remaned Axle shaft on the other. Have had no complants yet. Now i have to change out the axles to do a B18C1 swap.

wow..where do you get these prices from? why would you get used axles from a junkyard?

dont go to honda for them. they give you remanufactured ones anyhow. just go to a axle place, you will need to bring them the core, i think i got a price of $100- or so. i dont remember if that was with my account or not but you get the point.

I got my prices from a guy who was the head mechanic at Scott Robinson Honda down here for a good 3 years or so... Maybe he included some other things in the replacement parts, though. I don't know, I never called them personally.
If the axles work properly... why not get them at a wrecking yard? if it'll save you a good amount of money. But if it's not saving you much, then go with autozone or whatever. That's just my thoughts.

if you get them at a junk yard, and they dont work, you just wasted time and money. from autozone or whereever i believe they have a warrenty with them. i havent changed out mine yet, but i know people that have and got them from there, over a year so far and no problems.
